Earn Your Turns
Join our guides for a bottom up intro into backcountry skiing and splitboarding. We will start with the basics to provide a solid foundation and introduction to earning your turns and getting out into the backcountry.
This will include:
-reading the weather and avalanche forecasts,
-equipment to have in your pack and how to pack for the backcountry,
-using your beacon, shovel and probe,
-how to use skins and other equipment,
-basics of route finding, terrain management and decision making in avalanche terrain.
Intended to be a next step up from our Backcountry 101, skiers and splitboarders will build upon the basics of getting out into the Backcountry. This will include:
-utilizing local weather and avalanche forecasts,
-snowpack structure observations,
-identifying avalanche problems and appropriate tour planning,
-decision making, communication and group dynamics.
This is a great option for those with a Level 1 / Rec 1 avalanche education and looking to build upon those skills with a local guide.
All of our Backcountry Touring options are designed to be built to suit, and can be customized to the clients needs and safely getting into the backcountry.
